Dear Zion’s Way,
I am not addressing this letter to just one person at Zion’s Way because you function as a team. Zion’s Way is the epitome of the concept of teamwork. So, this letter is for the team.
I spent a year, constantly caring for Carol, the lady I have loved with every fiber of my being for the past twelve years. One day, after returning from one of her doctor’s appointments, it was obvious Carol’s health condition was deteriorating. I was in way over my head trying to care for Carol and I knew it was time for hospice care.
I called Zion’s Way and within one hour of my call, a lovely lady, also named Carol, arrived at my home. During this interview, it became obvious that Zion’s Way was the hospice care we wanted.
During Carol’s first seven hours of Zion’s Way care, she had a shower chair, a bedside toilet, a walker and her medications. The paperwork was completed and our home burst into a beehive of activity and our lives became less traumatic.
The Zion’s Way team of professionals came when needed and often it was many times a day. For years, my Carol and I have embraced alternative methods of health and living. So, we welcomed the Zion’s Way complementary therapies. The complementary therapies always brought a calm feeling and pleasant comfort to Carol.
A few days after Carol became a hospice patient, many of our family members had gathered in our home to be with Carol. Susie, a Zion’s Way nurse and a massage therapist, came to visit us. Susie is also a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and carries the traditions of her ancestors as a Healer and Medicine Woman.
During her visit with Carol, Susie used her remarkable skills and an eagle feather to touch and change our lives. Susie also touched the lives of more than a dozen of our family members who were with us that day. Susie brought a peace and calm to Carol’s soul and brought us joy beyond our expectations. There is no way to compensate Zion’s Way for the care my Carol received from them. It would be like trying to put a price on the good deeds given from the heart of a Good Samaritan.
Carol loved everyone at Zion’s Way. She especially loved Rachel, the aide who washed her and “spiffed her up”. Carol also loved Jeremiah. He brought Carol a genuine compassion and friendship. During Jeremiah’s visits, I could see Carol’s eyes brighten and she would get a smile on her face. How fortunate I felt to see her smile.
The Zion’s Way team has a level of commitment that is priceless. I can only share with you that choosing Zion’s Way for Carol’s hospice care was an excellent decision. Our experiences with Zion’s Way have been some of the most gratifying experiences of our lives.
After Carol’s death, we had a service for her in Las Vegas. I was so surprised and pleased to see Rachel, Jeremiah, Kathy and Cindy from Zion’s Way. They took the time to drive 250 miles to say good-bye to my Carol.
Zion's Way created a respectful, loving environment for my loved one. They put a giant patch on my broken heart. Considering the depths of my current despair, I can only imagine the trauma I would have felt without their team’s help.
Sincerely,
Flip DiFilippo
