About one year after Zion’s Way Hospice began serving patients in the St. George area, a woman called asking if, by chance, the agency extended their services into Page, Arizona. Zion’s Way, being licensed only in the state of Utah, was unable to assist her at that time. They offered sincere regrets and let the woman know they would look into serving the Page area as soon as they were able.
Less than three years later, after opening their Home Health division and expanding to a larger office, Zion’s Way has obtained their state licensure in Arizona. Ground has recently been broken and the agency is eager to begin serving patients in Mohave and Coconino counties which include the cities of Page, Fredonia, Littlefield, and Beaver Dam, Arizona.
Zion’s Way owners began the expansion process by visiting area physicians, businesses, chambers of commerce, and community groups. As they interviewed prospective employees and searched for office space, regular visits to Page were especially exhausting, but well worth the time spent and several hundred miles traveled.
Zion’s Way is close to realizing its goals as Home Health and Hospice services will be extended into much of Northern Arizona with a primary focus in the Page area.
“We have received many requests from families and physicians in Kanab asking us if we could assist individuals in Fredonia and Page,” Shirley Haslam, Executive Director and Co-founder of Zion’s Way, said. “We are so excited to be expanding and granting the requests of these individuals and families in need.”
During their initial visits to Page, Zion’s Way personnel were impressed with the community, their warm welcome, and the amount of support they willingly extended to them as a new business in town.
“The city of Page is excited to have us there and we are happy to be there ourselves,” Karen Spadaro, Hospice Clinical Director, said. “They’ve welcomed us with open arms. We’ve had no problem hiring staff and the chamber of commerce worked with us in getting our office. It is really a great community.”
Spadaro also said the company is anxious to begin serving patients and ready to face new challenges as they learn more about the community and the wonderful people who live there.
